Neuro Rehab

Neurologic rehabilitation focuses on helping pets recover strength, mobility, coordination, balance, and functional movement after neurologic injury or disease. Every pet's recovery journey is different, and our programs are designed to support each stage of healing and functional improvement.

Pain Management & Muscle Activation

The first phase of neurologic rehabiliation focuses on comfort, positioning, body awareness, and early muscle activation. Many pets experiencing neurologic weakness or paralysis struggle weith balance, standing, and normal weight bearing.

Our goal is to reduce discomfort while helping your pet safely begin re-engaging affected muscles and movement patterns. This phase may include supported standing/weight bearing, laser therapy, electrical stimulation and gentle therapeutic exercise.

We meet your pet where they are and progress at a pace appropriate for their condition and tolerance.

Increasing Strength and Function

As your pet gains stability and awareness, therapy shifts towards improving strength, coordination, balance, and mobility. Neurologic conditions often cause weakness, muscle loss and difficulty with coordinated movement, so rebuilding strength is an important step in recovery. Treatments may include balance activities, assisted walking (including body weight support treadmill) and strengthening exercises.

Our focus is on improving safe, purposeful movement while continuing to build confidence and independence.

Optimizing Function

During this phase, therapy becomes more functional and task-oriented as we continue buidling strength, endurance, coordiatino and mobility. Exercisees are tailored to your pet's daily needs and goals while emphasizing movement quality and safety.

For some pets, this stage means returning to near-normal mobility. For others, it may involve adapting to a "new normal" with supported devices such as harnesses, body weight support systems, or wheelchairs.

Returning to Normal/New Normal

Every neurologic recovery journey looks different. Some pets return to their previous level of activity, while others adapt to a new normal and ongoing support, exercises, or mobility equipment.

By this stage, pets and owners are typically more comfortable and confident managing daily activities, mobility challenges, and and long-term care needs. Our goal is to help your pet maintain the highest possible level of function, comfort and independence.
